MEXACLAV-625 is a combination antibiotic medication containing Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. Each tablet contains 625 mg of the active ingredients, typically comprising 500 mg of Amoxicillin and 125 mg of Potassium Clavulanate.
Uses of MEXACLAV-625
- Treatment of Bacterial Infections: MEXACLAV-625 is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sinusitis, and dental infections.
How MEXACLAV-625 Works
MEXACLAV-625 combines the effects of two medications:
- Amoxicillin: A penicillin-type antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.
- Clavulanate Potassium: A beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of Amoxicillin by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending the antibiotic spectrum of Amoxicillin.
Benefits of MEXACLAV-625
- Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic: Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
- Enhanced Efficacy: The combination of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium helps overcome antibiotic resistance by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes.
