Uses of Zostum 1.5g
- Treatment of Bacterial Infections: Zostum 1.5g is used to treat infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, abdominal infections, and infections in neutropenic patients.
How Zostum 1.5g Works
Zostum 1.5g combines the effects of two antibiotics:
- Cefoperazone: A third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death.
- Sulbactam: A beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of Cefoperazone by beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby extending the antibiotic spectrum of Cefoperazone.
Benefits of Zostum 1.5g
- Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic: Effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
- Enhanced Efficacy: The combination of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam helps overcome antibiotic resistance by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes.
